Shaman is the largest horse at our ranch. He is half Belgian Draft and half paint, and came to us after pulling a buggy in uptown Charlotte NC. Now he lives the good life here at the farm, and has quickly become a favorite for his temperament, personality, and unique look. He has a very specific set of markings over his ears and blue eyes that designate him as a “Medicine Hat”. This coloring was considered sacred amongst the Native Americans of the plains.  It hasn’t gone to Shaman’s head though, he has proven himself to be a very sweet and gentle horse with  impeccable manners, he even drops his head down to be haltered or bridled which is good since the top of his head is too high for most people to reach. Shaman provides us with an advantage over other riding programs because he can carry more weight than most facilities allow. So if you have ever wanted to ride, but you’ve been turned down because you didn’t fall within the accepted weight limits, let’s see if we can fix that situation for you.

Shaman joined Kandy’s Chance Ranch in 2014.
He is a half Belgian paint horse and is 16.3 hands tall.

Sha loves to make faces at the camera. We think it comes from his time as a carriage horse. I wonder how many people got home from taking pictures with the carriages to realize the horse was photobombing them.
